#1
Tennis Chic
Rag & Bone took the lead here with pleated skirts and deep v-neck sweaters that gave a nod to the court.
#2
The Long Loose Dress
At Victoria Beckham's show, the designer made sure to point out her long
loose dress to her audience by saying, "I still feel really sexy in
this dress, I put on this dress this morning, and it felt cool, and fun,
and easy." At the show for label The Row, the dresses were even looser
than Beckham's.
#3
Plus Sized Fashion
NYFW Spring 2014 marks the first time that a plus sized fashion designer
was shown on the runway. Eden Miller's high-end line, Nights of
Cabiria, is designed for women sized 12 to 24. Eden was one of six
up-and-coming designers to be featured in a showcase presented by
Fordham Law School’s Fashion Law Institute.
#4
Floral Print
Floral print was everywhere for Spring 2014. Designers such as Michael
Kors (above), Delpozo, Jen Kao, and Harbison applied the print to
multiple pieces.
#5
Slip Dresses
Simple, '90s-inspired slip dresses could be seen at shows by Jason Wu,
Helmut Wang, Tess Giberson and others. To be honest, we've always loved
slips that cut away from the body and are happy to see them back in
style for next spring.
#6
Crop Tops
Crop tops have become a summer essential over the years and the fashion
houses have taken notice. For NYFW Spring 2014, crop tops remain. Better
start doing sit-ups to prepare yourself for next summer!
#7
Boyish Cuts
Androgynous, menswear-inspired looks were seen in shows from Victoria Beckham, Alexander Wang, 3.1 Phillip Lim and more
#8
Metallics
Shiny, metallic dresses in flashy colors were seen in runway shows from
Ralph Rucci, Altuzurra, Diane von Furstenberg, Jason Wu and the like
this week.
#9
'90s Sportswear
The '90s had quite the influence on NYFW this week. Slouchy pants,
varsity jackets, and overalls were seen in runway shows from Alexander
Wang, Victoria Beckham, Y-3, Rag & Bone and more. What's old is new
again, apparently.
#10
Monochrome
Black and white is here to stay. Monochrome has been a trend for quite
sometime now and it doesn't look like it is going anywhere anytime soon.
#11
Sheer
Light, low-density and semi-transparent fabrics were all around the
runway this week. Sheer made a strong impact at shows by Delpozo,
Zimmermann, Jason Wu and Zac Posen.
#12
Matching Prints
In recent years, matching prints from head to toe have been a fashion
faux pas, but for Spring 2014 things have changed. Matching prints on
your top and bottom are back in a big way this NYFW. Designers such as
J. Crew (above), Trina Turk, Vivienne Tam, DvF, and Mara Hoffman all
presented pieces with matching prints.

Bright Tangerine Lipstick
This photo taken from the Rag & Bone show is just one example of
when bright tangerine-hued lipstick appeared on the runway this week.
The hue was also seen on the lips of models at both the DKNY and Monique
Lhuillier shows.
#14
White
Through each season black and white seem to remain trendy. In recent
years, monochrome has been the dominant trend, but for Spring 2014 white
is back and in a big way. Models were dressed in only white at shows
from 3.1 Phillip Lim, Thakoon, Derek Lam, Carolina Herrera, Ralph Rucci,
Victoria Beckham and more.
#15
Slick, Parted Hair
When it comes to hairstyles, a greasy, middle-parted look dominated the
runway this week at shows including Rag & Bones, Suno and others.
This simple, no frills look is perfect for the summer months.
